School Nurse
Description

Student Health Management:

  • Provide direct nursing care to students, including first aid, emergency care, and treatment of minor injuries or illnesses.
  • Administer prescribed medications and maintain accurate medication logs.
  • Monitor and manage chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or allergies.
  • Conduct health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, scoliosis) and refer students for further medical evaluation as needed.

Health Records and Compliance:

  • Maintain detailed and confidential student health records in accordance with legal and school policy requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with immunization regulations and follow up with families on missing or overdue vaccines.
  • Prepare and submit reports related to student health as required by school administration or local/state authorities.

Health Education and Promotion:

  • Educate students and staff on health and wellness topics such as hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
  • Develop and implement school-wide health initiatives and wellness programs.
  • Collaborate with physical education teachers and counsellors to support holistic student well-being.

Emergency Preparedness and Training:

  • Develop and oversee the school's emergency medical response protocols.
  • Train staff on basic first aid, CPR, and the use of medical equipment such as EpiPens or AEDs.
  • Serve as the first responder during medical emergencies and coordinate with external healthcare providers when needed.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Act as a liaison between students, families, and healthcare providers to address individual health concerns.
  • Work closely with school counsellors and administrators to support students with mental health challenges or psychosocial needs.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about their child's health needs or concerns.
  • Communicate effectively with the pharmacies (Refill and calibration) for the devices and tools.
  • Good communication and relations with the clinics, centres, Hospitals to provide a collaboration for the Health campaigns and Events (e.g. the World Health Day)

Qualifications:

Education and Licensure:

  • A valid Licensed from NHRA National Health Regulatory Authority  Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a school or paediatric setting.
  • Excellent Arabic Speaking and writing 
  • Experience addressing adolescent health issues.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, staff, and external medical professionals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with adolescents effectively.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move medical equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Capacity to respond quickly in emergencies and navigate school campus efficiently.
